Business profile and publication rules
Last updated: 12 July 2026
1. What these rules are for
These rules explain which business profiles and categories Firmlocator allows, what may lead to additional review, and why publication in the directory is not an automatic right but depends on compliance with the rules and the safety of the platform.
2. Categories and activities that we do not allow or restrict
- False or misleading business profiles, including impersonation of another business, organisation or public institution.
- Pornographic content, sexual services, or profiles presented primarily through sexual content.
- Illegal services, illegal goods, smuggling, counterfeit goods, or other prohibited commercial activities.
- Profiles related to drugs, prohibited substances, or other illegal sale or distribution.
- Profiles related to gambling, weapons, dangerous goods, tobacco or nicotine products, where this is restricted by the platform rules or requires additional review.
- Scams, phishing, malware, spam-like practices, or other misleading and harmful business models.
- Other high-risk or regulated categories that Firmlocator does not allow or publishes only after additional verification.
3. What we expect from the submitted profile
- The business name, description, services, categories and contact details must be genuine and sufficiently accurate.
- You must have the right to publish the uploaded texts, images, endorsements and other materials.
- Do not use misleading claims, false endorsements, fabricated results or untrue promises about your business activity.
- Do not use Firmlocator to redirect users to harmful websites, fraudulent pages or otherwise abuse users’ trust.
- Upon request, you must be able to correct disputed content or provide additional clarification about your profile.
4. Review, publication and restrictions
Firmlocator may use automated and manual review of profiles and edits for safety, fraud prevention, enforcement of the rules and directory quality. We do not automatically publish every submitted item of content.
- Publication may be delayed until the review is completed.
- We may request corrections, clarifications, or additional information before approval.
- We may restrict, remove, or refuse publication of a profile that violates these rules or creates significant risk.
- Firmlocator reserves the final discretion as to whether a given profile or edit is suitable for public publication.
5. If your profile is under review or requires changes
We will try to show a clear and calm status when the profile is under review, when changes are needed, or when publication cannot proceed in its current form. Where needed, you may edit your profile or contact us for clarification.
6. Contact and clarifications
If you believe your profile has been held back or restricted by mistake, you may contact Firmlocator at contact@firmlocator.com and request further clarification or a new review.
7. Reports and right of reply
Anyone may report a profile they believe is incorrect, misleading or harmful. We review every report editorially — we do not remove profiles automatically.
- You may submit a report to contact@firmlocator.com or via the “Report profile” link on the page itself.
- Where applicable, we forward the report to the business so that it can respond before a decision is taken. Your email is hidden from the forwarded copy unless you expressly request that it be shared.
- We aim to respond within 5 working days. Both parties receive a written outcome by email when the review is completed.
- Manifestly bad-faith, abusive or out-of-scope reports, for example a commercial dispute between the parties, may be rejected with a brief explanation. All correspondence — report, response and decision — is retained for the audit-trail period described in the Privacy Policy.
8. “Verified client” badges
The “verified customer” badge indicates that a real customer has confirmed a working relationship with the business. It is not an assessment, rating or guarantee of quality. We apply the following directory-level rules to preserve its meaning.
- Confirmations from the same domain are rejected: the confirmer's email must not be on the same domain as the business's, in order to prevent self-confirmation.
- Only one confirmation is recorded for the pair “confirmer’s email + business”. Repeat attempts update the existing record.
- Confirmers may withdraw the confirmation at any time via the link in their invitation. Withdrawal removes the public display.
- Paid, coerced or fake confirmations are grounds for removal of the badge, restriction of the profile or termination of the account.
